Assignment 4, Example 1

Heuristic Evaluation

Attached is my heuristic eval in pdf form! I found both their apps to be quite similar, so I tried to comment at the end about some of the features I would take from each app.

Reflection

I found paper prototyping very valuable for making multiple iterations of a design--if I made something, tested it out, then didn't like it, I could simply draw a new flashcard. It was also very helpful for getting honest feedback--people weren't afraid to criticize a prototype made out of notecards, whereas they might feel uncomfortable criticizing a computer-generated mockup if they thought I'd spent lots of time doing it. Obviously, there were some drawbacks too--notably, it's hard to create all the possible paths for your program to take out of notecards.

I found HE valuable for getting a lot of feedback fast. It's like the brainstorming of evaluation! I also found the categories to be good examples of things to look for in doing my evaluations.
